World Premiere - Tone of Arc 'The Best Place to Fall' / 'Chant No. 1'

Tone Of Arc bring a glimpse of real musicality to the underground scene mixing techno, punk, funk, 80’s, and nameless styles much like Zappa into colorful explosions of sound. Their show is something rarely experienced on the dance floor consisting of San Francisco producer/life long musician/vocalist Derrick Boyd on guitar; bass and keys and his wife, vocalist Zoe Presnick. Their fully mixed slew of original songs consumes the audience with a sense of bravado and daring blurring the line between traditional live performance and the microprocessor-obsessed futurism.

Tone Of Arc's powerful stage presence draws from old school cats like Iggy Pop, The Clash, Talking Heads, and Bowie helping to partially define the originality of their music. Boyd himself describes these new directions in sound as discovering the infinite within the mortal remains and posits that this is the dichotomy of existence. Tone Of Arc, in short means the sound of the laws of creation, a name born from the wonder of the sound that holds all things in the universe together. This passionate couple, known for their joking and childlike spiritual presence gives their fans a feeling of being excited for life wherever they are. By constantly pushing their own musical and spiritual boundaries TOA transcends any environment common or cliché, breaking a path for curiosity and growth.

On their new single from their forthcoming Om Records debut TOA presents ‘The Best Place to Fall’ a hooky electronic oddity that comes rooted in punk funk. On the b-side they whip up a cover of 80’s band Spandau Ballet’s ‘Chant No. 1’. Stay tuned for the full length ‘Urgent Turquoise’ coming this Fall.

World Premiere - Shiny Objects 'The Velvet Slide'

Having founded Om Records in 1995, Christopher Smith is an electronic music lifer. On his new EP under his Shiny Objects moniker he pushes the boundaries of deep house into new territory, exploring psychedelic grooves with dark vocals and dubbed out guitars. The result is an engaging collection of seven groove-heavy numbers for discerning DJ sets. The release is coming out on 6/16 but we'll be premiering new tracks right here! Stay tuned.

On the storming opener, ‘The Velvet Slide,’ there’s no denying the goose bump inducing bass line. Processed guitars masquerade as synthesizers, creating an otherworldly foundation for Shiny Object’s deep vocals.

Lyrics:
Wander in the moonlight

Underneath the sequin lights

I’ll follow you till morning light

Watching as the sky ignites

We’re floating a down velvet slide

Bathing in the sacred tide

I’ll see you on the other side

Searching with your second sight

The steady building ‘Flutter Vision’ lays out a rolling groove over up front effects with a chopped up trippy distorted vocal.

Lyrics:

Vanity
You look good to me

A fantasy
In between the sheets

With that pretty smile
You don’t miss a beat

It’s no wonder why
I flutter at your feet

The eight-minute magnum opus ‘The Universe Unfolding’ is reminiscent of classic tripped-out rave anthems, brought up to speed into what could be the stand out track of the EP.

Lyrics:
This is the sound
Of the universe unfolding

Light Washes over you
A beautiful morning

Halfway through comes the downbeat instrumental ‘Do It Now’ breaking the release up into two halves.

Fans of the excellent ‘Architects & Waves’ compilation will be familiar with ‘You’re My Fool'.

Lyrics:
I can see you standing next to me
 You’re wondering what to do
And I can feel your stare it’s blinding me
 Let the games ensue
I’ve been wondering what you’ll say
You don’t know what to do
And it’s ok if you don’t have the words

I want to get dirty with you
I want to get dirty with you
I want to play dirty with you
I want to get dirty with you

You’re my fool, I’m your fool, you’re my fool
And that’s good enough for you
You’re my fool, I’m your fool, you’re my fool
And that’s good enough for me

Where we going when the music fades
I really can’t wait to see
Are you looking for a one night stand
Do you want to get dirty with me
Do you want to get dirty with me
Do you want to play dirty with me
Do you want to get dirty with me

You’re my fool, I’m your fool, you’re my fool
And that’s good enough for you
You’re my fool, I’m your fool, you’re my fool
And that’s good enough for me

I know what you want, so come and get it
Waiting right here for you, come on baby
Let’s pick the pace, we aint got all night
I’ve got what you want, so come and get it
I’ve got what you want, so come and get it
Waiting right here for you, come on baby
We aint got all night
I’ve got what you want, so come and get it
I’ve got what you want, so come and get it

Perfect for getting down after dark.

Lyrics:
Every breath you take
makes me nervous

Every move you make
I get so nervous

That sparkle in your eye
It makes me nervous

Your legs and your thighs
They me so nervous

But I can’t get enough

World Premiere - Pattern Drama 'Patterness'

VIBRANT DEEP HOUSE FROM NEW YORK’S UNDERGROUND

New York's Pattern Drama, AKA Corey Baker (one third of Wildkats) is a hotly tipped artist to come from the vibrant Big Apple’s underground house scene. His impressive release schedule features original music and remixes on Touch Of Class, Cityfox, Faceless and Berlin label URSL. Add in bookings at some of the world's hottest festivals and venues like Fabric (UK), Fusion Festival (Germany), Space (Ibiza), Sankeys (Manchester/Ibiza), BPM (Mexico), and Robot Heart (Burning Man), and it's easy to see why Pattern Drama's design is a catchy one.

On his debut release on Om Records, Pattern Drama digs deep into the minimalist deep house depths to come with the vibe heavy title track ‘Patterness’. It slinks and slides out of the speaker with the sophistication of a cat in a smoky alleyway. This is late night deepness of the highest order.  On the flip side comes the cut up groove of ‘My Position’ complete with slowed down hip hop vocal over a steady rolling house tempo.

DJ Tennis Interview

By Ava Lisbona

The Up All Night crew were lucky to get an interview with DJ Tennis, as he doesn’t do them very often and now we know why: The way he answers the questions would make people be way too obsessed with him. Prepare yourself before you read these responses, you are going to love him more than you already love his music

1.  Tell us about your upcoming releases, we know everyone is anxious to hear about them…

Upcoming releases are many… I am working on a bunch of remixes (Little DragonPupkulies & RebeccaArt Department) in my studio in Miami at the moment and working on an EP on Life and Death for next Autumn..

Working also on an ambient project for movie soundtracks and special installations…

2.  Tell us about your past life as a world famous tennis player, and how much you miss wearing tennis shorts..

Tennis was my favorite sport… It’s fun and it’s about tactic and strategy and if you are good you can make a lot of money..

I was a very good player and I started getting paid $$$$ around the world…

I become way too famous and I was making way too much money that I decided to stop my career and become a computer programmer in Pisa. This is what everybody should do once the bank is overloaded.

I miss my Tennis shorts and I can only wear them when I am playing at Disco Knights in Burning Man

3.  Tell us what you think about this video:

This is a behind the scenes of my last video “You Closed My Eyes” that leaked on the net… and this guy is the director…

I told him to focus more on the video than his experiments with Coke and Mango condoms. He kind of screwed everything up.

4.  For the sake of Up All Night, what are you 5 favorite after party jams…

My fave after party jams need to feature a Snare (or a clap) and a 909 hi-hat properly positioned in the arrangement… I remember once Thugfucker played Tubular bells in a Guy Gerber after-party in Ibiza and everybody started complaining because it wasn’t tech-house enough…

Then I realized that a hi-hat and a snare are necessary to make dummies dance.

My personal favorite after party Jams is Larry Heard - De ja vu (Mussaria remix)

5. What are you favorite things to do when you come to play in CA, more specifically San Francisco?

Hang with the Lisbonas … Smoke a Joint with the Hippies in Golden Gate Park… Unfortunately Hamilton Wright lives in LA now

6. Do you believe in Big foot?  if so, where is he hiding?

Big Foot doesn’t exist, everybody knows it… It’s like Santa or Bin Laden

I think I met ALF once at Cocoon Club in Ibiza (not sure) see picture below.

7.  If you could take one coarse to learn a special skill, what would it be?

Can you take courses and learn how to Teleport youseelf? Well I would like to learn that. Also because I am lazy and I need it to go to buy groceries or even to the toilet…

The worst part of being a DJ is sitting on planes all the Time… I am not complaining, I am just saying..

8. What essentials do you need on tour?

I need somebody who helps me to choose the right clothes. Everytime I end up in the coldest city wearing swimming trunks. Not that good in planning.

9.  Tell us your thoughts about Up All Night app

I know the Up All Night App very well and I like it a lot. Of course once the community gets bigger it becomes more and more useful.

****DJ Tennis personally requested ‘funny questions only’ so we didn’t mess with that request. We hope you enjoyed this, we sure had a great time

World Premiere - Climbers 'Tomorrow Never Comes'

Climbers hail from Mexicali, known as the city that captured the sun, in the Baja state of Mexico. It’s no coincidence that the two members Jay Blakk and Kiko Deal, who, despite forming in 2011, have also captured the attention of the global electronic music community with their fresh- faced take on house music. Their ‘Equal Responsibility’ and ‘It’s All I Need’ singles on Get Physical, as well as the slew of buzz-worthy releases for labels such as Culprit, Asylum UK, Noir Music 2 and Electronique have found their way into the sets of some of the hottest underground dance acts including Art Department, James Teej, My Favorite Robot, Tanner Ross, Miguel Campbell, Catz n Dogz, Death on the Balcony and Richy Ahmed. BBC’s iconic Pete Tong named them "Future Stars" in 2013.

On their Om Records debut they bring the deep and heavy bass lines and old school chops on ‘Tomorrow Never Comes’. Los Angeles chess playing mystic Clarian lends his haunting vocals that end up drifting in cut up on the breeze (like a young Perry Ferrell) as if from an old radio on a dusty Mexican porch. Poetry through a distorted filter, Clarian implores through shouts and croons over pounding beats, Climbers take the song on a constant build. When asked about their name and how it relates to their music, Blakk and Deal state simply ‘We’re constantly climbing to be better people in the journey we’re on’ and that fully translates with every release raising the bar for their growing quality discography. NY / Iceland duo Thugfucker joins forces with Berlin underground darling Nico Stojan to bring their wild party instigating stylings on the remix that takes the original on an 11 minute ride through a gradual steam rolling dance floor destroyer.

Climb on climbers, we’re right there with you!

Kicking things off is the UK duo Solomon Grey with ‘Electric Baby’ remixed by Groves.  Deep heavy bass kicks over the brooding affair, setting up a moody introduction.

Next up is the amazing remix of Blackbird Blackbird by fellow indie dance San Franciscans Tone of Arc.  Their take on the track leaves the pop behind and takes a plunge into a darker domain complete with backing vocals and lush instrumentation.

In a double dip, Tone of Arc return with an original ‘Waiting Room’ combining a heavy synth / drum break over a fearsome hook by dual vocalists Derrick Boyd and Zoe Presnick

Keeping the vibrations flowing, Om’s behind the scenes mad scientist Shiny Objects returns with his newest concoction, the eerie and sensual ‘You’re My Fool’.

Track five is ‘A Lover’s Dream’ by Sandeman (one half of the deep house duo Wildkats), with vocals by Shiny Objects and Kidhead (Pillowtalk), this one has a deep hound of the baskervilles vibe permeating the atmosphere over a poetic narrative and rumbling bassline with tinkling percussion, driving keys and guitar.

Keeping the momentum building is Days of May (the new live band featuring Andy Cato from Groove Armada on vocals)  ‘So Far From Salvation’ with a remix by Shiny Objects.  Be sure to catch Shiny Objects’ tip of the cap to Massive Attack at the 5:51 mark.

Nearly halfway through the album, tempo gets a boost as Solaya (Solar and Aya) take over the controls with ‘As Is’.  Reminiscent of classic rave tracks from Orb or Rabbit in the Moon, Aya whispers over Solar’s ethereal house tempo that drifts with live percussion into a magical ambient banger.

Next up is Italy’s DJ Tennis (founder of Life and Death) and Kidhead (Pillowtalk) with ‘The Last Page’ who deliver a radio hit that could easily see play on KCRW or Sirius XM Blog Radio.

Not to be outdone, the UK’s new electronic music darlings Psychemagik deliver another standout track with ‘Chimera’ complete with heavy breakbeats and organ mixed with strings.

Long-standing Om artist Lance DeSardi returns with his new Phages moniker for ‘You’re Not the One’ complete with his own production and vocal musings.

Last but not least, the goose bump inducing DWNTWN remix of Blackbird Blackbird ‘There Is Nowhere’ finally gets released to close out an amazing album of new talent in the Om Records family.

New Click Click 'Soul Freak' on Smoke N' Mirrors

Berlin's Click | Click returns to drop his second single 'Soul Freak' on SNM and what a hot lil devil it is!  The original mix kicks things off setting the tone for a funky slice of low-end deepness.  This is that booty shaking bad ass house music you always wish the DJ were playing!  Well, here it is!  Play that shit and bring happiness to the dance floor yo.  Our favorite UK felines Wildkats offer up a tripped out twist with their remix.  Perfect for late night sessions when everyone is dancing their ass off and not paying attention to anything but the groove.  Play this and watch em move!  Last but not least is the B-Side 'Berlin', a jackin' house jam served up with plenty of deep disco funk radness.  All in all, that's three banging tracks rolled up into one package.  Soul freaks, get down on it!
