EIGHTY MILE BEACH

Beth Custer and Christian Jones founded Eighty Mile Beach in the 1990's in San Francisco after meeting at Mobius Recording Studio. They were influenced by the wave of trip-hop coming out of Bristol at the time and started jamming in Jones' studio apartment with Custer creating lyrics and melodies over Jones' beats, bass, and guitar lines. Their unique musical concoctions caught the ear of Christopher Smith at Om Records who signed the duo as one of the label's first artists. The critically acclaimed full length 'Inclement Weather' was released on Om Records in 1998 alongside subsequent vinyl-only remixes from Sky Juice and Thievery Corporation (all of which are now available digitally). Eighty Mile Beach "Las Jacarandas" appears on OM's 15th Anniversary compilation released in 2009. In 2021, Custer & Jones returned to Om with two new singles "Old Stone Road", due out on 8/13 and "Rainshine" from a forthcoming new EP to follow.
