LA queer pop duo TWINKIDS is Tokyo born Gene Fukui and Floridian Matt Young, two songwriters and producers whose unabashed lyrics tackle the anxieties of being young and queer. Gene and Matt first met while studying at Oberlin College and the Conservatory of Music, whose alumni include Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Mars Volta, and Liz Phair. Their first two releases, "Dreamer" and "ACBTY," showcased their clever blend of soulful vocal acrobatics, unexpected harmonies, and sparse percussion, capturing the attention of San Francisco based label Om Records. In 2017 the released their debut EP "Boys Love" featuring the single "Overdressed" which has accumulated over 3 million Spotify streams.

In 2018, TWINKIDS earned a #1 on Hype Machine with their Spring single “Jigoku Tengoku,” a twisting, syncopated pop electronica number taking its name from the Japanese meaning for "heaven or hell." TWINKIDS also wrapped their debut tour around the same time, a 15-date North American run supporting Matt & Kim.

Today the pair share another new cut "I'm Sorry" with an accompanying music video. Working with long-time collaborater Dakota Light-Smith and Ines Alpha, who the band found on Instagram from her AR 3D makeup designs, TWINKIDS plays with glossy animation, texture, and dizzying perspective in the "I'm Sorry" clip. "Rather than put a green screen behind us, Dakota wanted to build a dolly and have us physically moving in front of different backgrounds," TWINKIDS says of the video. To me the video is beautiful and aesthetically pleasing, but I hope people watching also relate to those bloody moments and the heartache running through it all."
