The Jazzual Suspects is a labor of love of musician/producer Charlie Tate, a man responsible for well-known Om-Records stalwarts King Kooba and Colossus. The love of the old school golden era of funky breaks, jazz and soul influenced hip-hop is obvious.
“In some respects, Mark Farina’s Mushroom Jazz series was the catalyst for this project” says Charlie. TJS have had at least one track featured on every MJ release since volume 5.

Om Records founder Christopher Smith returns under his Shiny Objects moniker with Superstitious Hips, a heavy brooding new single on Smoke N’ Mirrors. Kicking things off is the original version of the title track. There’s a darkness that builds into a down and dirty body-shaking affair with heavy drums. Up next is the Birds Fly South (Maxxi Soundsystem & Holmar Filipsson from Thugfucker) who takes the track into deeper house territory.
